Chrono Group, a Canadian aviation services firm which includes charter airline Chrono Aviation plus various related subsidiary firms, has been put into administration.
On October 18, 2024, the Quebec Superior Court appointed Deloitte as administrator of the embattled aviation group, in accordance with Canada’s Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
The decision was taken after the court ruled that the group was unable to meet its financial obligations towards its creditors.
At the heart of Chrono Aviation’s problems is, reportedly, a legal dispute with one of its direct competitors, Nolinor, over the obtention of contracts to supply iron mines in the Canadian far north. This ongoing court case has prevented Chrono Aviation from raising additional funds.
Based at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (YHU), as of October 2024, Chrono Group operates a fleet of 14 aircraft of various types, from nine-seater single engine Pilatus PC-12 turboprops to Boeing 737-800SF aircraft.
Chrono Aviation operates both cargo and passenger flights, offering charter services and servicing mining outposts and other settlements throughout Canada.
