Bombardier Defense has delivered its sixth Global 6000 jet to Swedish defense supplier Saab, ready to be transformed into an ultra-high-tech military plane.

The Bombardier Global 6000 will eventually join the Swedish Air Force as part of the country’s Airborne Early Warning and Control solution known as GlobalEye.

As part of the GlobalEye program, Bombardier confirmed on July 19, 2023, that the Global 6000 aircraft with be fitted with Saab’s renowned radar, command, control and communication systems.

“Our jets are internationally recognized as modern, go-to platforms by some of the world’s largest defense contractors, such as Saab,” said Jean-Christopher Gallagher, executive vice-president, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense. “The Global aircraft family represents the right-sized solution for multi-mission, surveillance and VIP transport. Time and time again, it has met customers’ expectations for their most demanding mission needs. The Bombardier team is proud to associate its aircraft with strong partners to create the next-generation defense solutions around the world.”

According to the aircraft manufacturer the latest addition to the Swedish Air Force fleet is another example of Bombardier’s “long-standing experience in adapting its platforms to specific characteristics of a variety of military services’ individually unique requirements”.

In May 2023, Bombardier Defense and General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada proposed that the two companies are best placed to deliver the government’s Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft (CMMA) program.

According to Bombardier the foundation for the CMMA solution is its Global 6500 aircraft.

“The highly efficient and agile Global 6500 aircraft, the right-sized jet for the CMMA with next-generation engines, long range, high endurance, and coupled with proven reliability and better fuel efficiency,” Bombardier said at the time.
