Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has announced a new partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing in anticipation of 37th America’s Cup and the launch of the Global 8000 private jet.

Canadian firm Bombardier confirmed on August 8, 2024, that it has joined forces with the Swiss sailing team as an official supplier to ‘Unite Sky and Sea’.

According to Bombardier, Alinghi Red Bull Racing shares its ambitions to reach the “pinnacle of engineering and innovation in their pursuit to go faster, farther and better, be it over the waves or in the skies”.

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup is viewed as the most prestigious race in sailing and this 37th edition comes as Bombardier prepares to launch the Global 8000 in 2025.

Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Development at Bombardier, said: “We are excited to join forces with Alinghi Red Bull Racing, one of the most iconic teams in competitive sailing. Our partnership was born out of mutual respect and a likeminded approach in reaching the top of our respective fields.”

McCullough added: “Our teams have much in common. All of us are dedicated to uncompromising performance. We master precision engineering and expert design, coupled with an intense drive for perpetual innovation.”

For this year’s race, Alinghi has worked with the Red Bull Advanced Technologies unit, enabling BoatOne to benefit from the skills and expertise of a team that has won seven Formula One Drivers’ Championships.

Bombardier is currently preparing the entry into service of its Global 8000 jet, which has already made aviation history by breaking the speed of sound during testing, becoming the first civilian aircraft to do so since the Concorde.

Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense, said: “The team at Alinghi Red Bull Racing embodies passion, innovation, speed, performance, and a boldness in pushing boundaries – all of which are values that have been driving us as well in developing the best jets in business aviation.”
