Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the European ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) provider, has ordered 80 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The deal consists of 40 firm orders for B737-8s plus 40 options.
The order is the first to be placed directly with Boeing by the Dublin-based group, which already operates 14 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its 220-aircraft fleet.
Avia Solutions Group holds 11 Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) in countries all over the world and boasts a portfolio that includes names such as Avion Express, SmartLynx Airlines, KlasJet, AirExplore, BBN, Ascend Airways and Skytrans, among others.
The order has been placed at a time when airlines are looking for ways to add capacity in the face of strong demand, particularly in leisure markets during peak travel periods. This market environment provides ample growth opportunities for ACMI providers like Avia Solutions Group.
“As the world’s largest ACMI provider, carrying over 35 million passengers annually for our clients, we have committed to a strategic approach of expanding our capacity to meet our customers’ seasonal needs, and our first order with Boeing is a key pillar of this,” said Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of Avia Solutions Group. “This is a proud moment for all of us at Avia Solutions Group and is testament to the fact that Avia Solutions Group is now entering a clear phase of sustained growth.”
“These 737 MAX will enhance the fleets of our airlines, giving their customers both operational flexibility and greater fuel efficiency,” said Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of Avia Solutions Group,” Ziemelis continued.
The first B737-8 MAX aircraft of this order will be delivered in 2030.
