A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flown by All Nippon Airways (ANA) was forced to return to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in Japan after a cabin crew member was allegedly bitten by a passenger.

Flight NH118, with 159 passengers on board, left Tokyo for Seatle Tacoma Airport (SEA) on January 16, 2024, just after 9.45 pm local time but around two hours later the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had returned to HND.

The 55-year-old American man that allegedly bit the crew member’s arm was “very drunk,” according to an ANA spokesperson.

After the flight returned to Tokyo the passenger was handed over to Japanese police officers.

Local news broadcaster, TBS, reported that passengers had told investigators that the male passenger led away by the police had taken a sleeping tablet and did not recall the incident.

In a separate incident on January 14, 2024, an ANA Boeing 777-300 was involved in a ground collision at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Boeing 777 was taxiing for departure when its left winglet struck the stabilizer of a Delta Air Lines Boeing 717.

The collision occurred when the Delta flight had just parked after arriving from Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW).
