Light aircraft crashes into residential property: one dead, one injured

On October 3, 2023, a light aircraft spiraled out of control and crashed into a residential property on North Cedar Street in Newberg, Oregon, US. 

The Piper PA-44 Seminole aircraft with N8360K registration number is associated with the Hillsboro Flight Academy, located about 20 miles north of Newberg.   

An aviation incident was reported to Newberg emergency services around 7 p.m. local time. The plane was carrying two people at the time of the incident. One was declared dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. 

The aircraft crashed through the roof onto the floor of the house. However, there were no injuries reported on the ground, and the residents of the impacted home were unharmed. 

A video captured by a Newberg resident, now circulating on social media, shows the moments leading up to the tragic crash of the aircraft. 

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)

To ensure the safety of both the public and the professionals working on the investigation, local authorities have advised residents to avoid the immediate vicinity of the crash site.
