AirAsia’s parent company, Capital A Berhad, is taking another step in its diversification by spinning off the airasia brand.

“airasia brand co.” is a new entity that will manage the Capital A’s brand portfolio and intellectual property, including the famous low-cost airline brand.

What was originally a regional low-cost airline business has been evolving, particularly over the last few years, into a multi-business conglomerate. In addition to air travel, it now provides a diverse range of services, most of them through the airasia ‘super-app’.

Heading up this new venture as CEO will be Rudy Khaw, previously AirAsia’s Chief Brand Officer.

In the official announcement, Capital A’s Chairman, charismatic airline entrepreneur Tony Fernandes, specifically mentioned licensing, merchandising and content creation as some of the areas that could see further growth through this new corporate structure.
