Air Peace ups international operations, now set to launch service to Mumbai

Privately-owned Nigerian airline carrier Air Peace has announced plans to launch flights to Mumbai, India

The airline intends to commence services to Mumbai as of March 31, 2023, according to a statement released on Twitter

The airline also revealed that it has met with “travel agents to discuss the [Mumbai] route and other expansion plans,” the statement said.  

International expansion and fleet growth 

Air Peace has been expanding its international operations to destinations outside Africa. Prior to the airline’s announcement of flights to Mumbai, Air Peace began operating flights to Guangzhou in July 2022, joining services to Dubai and Johannesburg that were launched in 2019 and 2020 respectively. 

In July 2022, Air Peace Chief Operating Officer Toyin Olajide also hinted at the airline’s plans to connect Beijing, Shanghai, from Nigeria. 

Air Peace also intends to add flights to Tel Aviv, Israel to its destination network, according to a quote from Spokesperson Stanley Olisa in a Nigerian Flight Deck report. 

Air Peace is expecting to take on eight Embraer 195-E2s and an additional 15 Boeing 737 Max 8s and 10s to join its fleet, the Nigerian Flight Deck report continued. 

Domestic and regional expansion 

Based in Lagos State, Air Peace has been steadily expanding its domestic and regional operations to West Africa. 

The airline recently announced the launch of its operations from Abuja to Banjul, Gambia and to Dakar, Senegal. It has also declared its intention to expand its domestic connectivity to North Central and North East Nigeria, with the plans to launch flights to Jos and Maiduguri.
