Air India, Singapore Airlines expands codeshare network with 51 new destinations

Air India and Singapore Airlines have announced the expansion of their codeshare network with 11 new domestic and 40 international destinations.  

According to a joint press release issued by the carriers on October 23, 2024, this marks the first major expansion of codeshare arrangements between the airlines since 2010. 

“Air India and Singapore Airlines have been longtime partners, and with this expanded scope of our codeshare agreement, we are excited to offer our guests greater connectivity to destinations across Southeast Asia, the Far East, and Australasia,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India. “We also look forward to welcoming Singapore Airlines customers to multiple points across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East via our hubs in India.”  

Starting from October 27, 2024, Air India and Singapore Airlines will launch joint flights connecting Singapore with Bengaluru and Chennai cities in India. According to the press release, this will raise the total weekly codeshare flights between the two countries from 14 to 56. 

Singapore Airlines and Air India will offer more domestic flights. This includes routes from Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi. It also covers flights from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as the route between Kolkata and Guwahati.  

Air India customers will be able to access 29 destinations across Singapore Airlines’ network. This includes cities in Australia such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, as well as Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia, and Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya in Indonesia. 

Also included are Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo-Haneda, and Tokyo-Narita in Japan, along with Busan and Seoul in South Korea, Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia, Auckland in New Zealand, Cebu and Manila in the Philippines, and Danang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. This covers current codeshare agreements to Kuala Lumpur. 

SIA customers will also be able to connect to Air India’s international services from Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai to 12 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. These destinations include Copenhagen (Denmark), Paris (France), Frankfurt (Germany), Milan (Italy), Nairobi (Kenya), Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), as well as Birmingham, London-Gatwick, and London-Heathrow (the United Kingdom). 

Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines said: “Adding Air India’s domestic network to our codeshare arrangements will also offer our customers enhanced connectivity and convenience in India, which is a key market for Singapore Airlines.”
