Air Europa, Spain’s second largest airline, has revealed that it was the victim of a cyberattack on October 9, 2023.

Few details are known about the attack which affected Air Europa’s payment processing system and may have compromised credit card data of an undetermined number of passengers.

The airline, which is currently in the process of being acquired by its most direct competitor, Iberia, also reported the breach had already been brought under control and that no other personal data had been compromised.

Air Europa highlighted that no cases of fraud had so far been detected following the incident.

The airline sent an email to customers who have acquired tickets from the airline in the past, advising them to cancel the credit cards used in transactions with the carrier.
