Aer Lingus pilots’ union has called off its planned weeks-long industrial action, having reached a new pay increase deal recommended by the Labor Court.

The industrial action began on June 26, 2024, when pilots demanded a 24% pay increase.

According to the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA), Aer Lingus’ executive management pay package increased by 66% from 2019 to 2024, and the association is demanding that pilots also receive a raise.

On July 10, 2024,  IALPA officials agreed to recommend that its Aer Lingus pilot members vote in favor of the Labour Court-brokered deal to increase pay by 17.75%, and to cease the industrial action that has affected airline operations.

“Aer Lingus pilots have returned to full working arrangements  today after IALPA ceased industrial action while a ballot of members is pending,” IALPA said in a Facebook post.

The union has stated that it will hold a series of discussions with members before the ballot, which is due to open on July 18, 2024 and close on July 23, 2024.

“Aer Lingus welcomes Forsa’s/IALPA’s recommendation of acceptance of the Labour Court recommendation and its decision to discontinue the industrial action,” the airline said in a statement.
