A new wave of attacks on civilian targets across Ukraine was reported during the afternoon of November 15, 2022, days after Russian troops withdrew from Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson.

Air raid alarms were heard across the country, according to Liveuamap, followed by reports of explosions in Kyiv.

“Attack on the capital. According to preliminary information, two residential houses were hit in Pechersky district. Several missiles were shot down by air defenses over Kyiv,” the city’s mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a post on his Telegram channel.

According to Ukrainian media, air defenses were also active over most of the country, while explosions in Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia, Lviv and several other cities have also been reported. In some cities, such as Lviv, the explosions were followed by blackouts, indicating a possible strike on energy infrastructure.

A short video showing the aftermath of a missile strike on a residential building in Kyiv was posted on Ukrainian social media.

A number of other videos were posted by Ukrainian news outlets reportedly showing several cruise missiles impacting buildings in Kyiv, as well as being intercepted over the city.

The scope and the targets of the attacks are largely reminiscent of the previous waves of drone and missile strikes in October and followed an attack on Kerch Bridge which connects Russian-occupied Crimea with the mainland.

While according to Ukrainian military, most of Russians missiles and drones were shot down, the attack persisted for several weeks and has been credited with damaging up to a third of Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure.
