Five members of the Venezuelan military died when Cessna C-208B Grand Caravan utility plane crashed near Jose Antonio Paez air base on October 6, 2022.
The incident occurred on October 6, 2022, when the aircraft had been performing a training flight and “fell to the ground” at 6:54 AM VET (10:56 GMT), according to a statement issued by Venezuela’s Ministry of Defense. The reason for the crash has yet to be determined.
The bodies of the four officers were recovered at the scene of the crash, the statement added. The search for the fifth one is ongoing.
The aircraft was operated by Air Transport Group 9, which was tasked with assisting indigenous communities in the region, the statement continued.

Venezuela’s air force, known as Bolivarian Military Aviation, previously operated four Cessna 208 utility aircraft.
Another of the Venezuela’s Cessna 208 aircraft crashed in 2004, claiming the lives of seven people after the plane collided with a mountain due to bad weather.
