Colombia’s Avianca (AVHOQ) and Italy’s ITA Airways have launched a new partnership dedicated to expanding the flight network of both airlines.

The airlines signed a new codeshare agreement on October 20, 2022, that will allow passengers of both airlines to travel between Bogota (BOG), Cali (CLO), Medellin (MDE), and Rome (FCO) connecting through London (LHR) or Miami (MIA) on flights operated jointly by the two air carriers.

“[Customers, ed.-] will be able to enjoy one of the most powerful networks with 125 routes connecting 24 countries in Europe and Latin America,” ITA Airways said in a statement.

Avianca (AVHOQ) director of alliances Julio Ordóñez estimates that under the new partnership both air carriers will serve up to 1,000 additional passengers between Colombia and Rome.

“With this codeshare, we offer another option to further enhance connectivity between Latin America and Europe,” Ordóñez said.

The new partnership will come into force on October 31, 2022.

The deal is the 30th codeshare agreement launched by ITA Airways during the past 12 months.
