Eurowings pilots are planning a new 3-day strike between October 17 and 19, 2022, after negotiations on reducing working hours failed.
The industrial action is led by the union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC). For weeks now, the union has been in negotiations with Eurowings’ management to improve working conditions.
“The core demand of the VC remains the reduction of the workload of the employees in the cockpit,” VC explained in a press release. “The company’s practice of regularly scheduling employees up to the legal limits leads to a considerable burden that must be mitigated.”
It is the second pilot strike to affect the German low-cost carrier in a month. A one-day pilots strike, which took place on October 2, 2022, caused Eurowings to cancel hundreds of flights.
“We regret the significant restrictions and consequences for the passengers and hope that the management of Eurowings will contact us as soon as possible to resolve this conflict,” said Mathias Baier, spokesperson for VC.
