Passengers on a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Brisbane on the evening of October 11, 2022, found themselves witnessing an in-flight brawl when two male passengers broke into a wild fist fight.

JQ582 was only 24 minutes into the 2.5 hour flight when the two men, who were unknown to each other, began to throw punches at each other.

Several passengers were able to catch the Jetstar spar on video, with footage published by Sky News Australia showing fellow passengers trying to break up the altercation, with some trying not to get caught in between the punches.

The incident led the flight’s pilot to turn the flight around, requesting a priority landing at Melbourne Airport (MEL). The flight landed successfully, where Australian Federal Police officers removed the two male passengers.

A Jetstar spokesperson told Sky News Australia that when the flight had landed back in Melbourne, the captain made an announcement to explain the situation to passengers.

“We have zero tolerance for disruptive and abusive behavior,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added: “The safety of our passengers and our crew is always our first priority and we thank our customers for their patience.”

No arrests were made, and the flight eventually made it to Brisbane two hours behind schedule.
