Croatia Airlines is planning to switch to an all-Airbus A220 fleet and has placed an order for six of the single-aisle jets, the flag carrier has announced.

“By 2026, Croatia Airlines will replace the existing fleet with a new, unified one, switching to ‘single type’ Airbus A-220 jet-fuel aircraft,” the airline announced on social media.

The airline said in a stock exchange statement that the decision would allow it to create a more efficient business model, citing factors such as the competitive market, fuel prices, CO2 emissions and passenger requirements.

The aircraft will have capacity of 127 and 148 seats, Croatia Airlines added.

Croatia Airlines currently has 12 aircraft in its fleet, comprising six De Havilland 8-400s, five Airbus A319s and one A320, according to fleet data from Cirium. It also has four A320neos on order.
