Emirates announced that it will expand its connection to South Africa by offering additional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.
The Dubai-based airline will be expanding its schedule to and from Johannesburg with three daily flights starting March 2023. There will be double daily services to Cape Town starting February 2023. Emirates will also be adding two more flights to Durban, making it a daily operation from December 2022. The reintroduction of the new flights between Dubai and three cities will make Emirates’ schedule to a total of 42 weekly services to South Africa.
Schedules
EK 767 from Dubai to Johannesburg will operate with a Boeing 777 aircraft, complementing its double daily A380 operation. The flight will depart Dubai at 23:25 local time, and will arrive at 05:35 the next day in Johannesburg. The return flight will depart Johannesburg at 22:20 local time and arrive in Dubai at 08:20 local time the next morning.
Emirates’ second daily service to Cape Town will depart Dubai at 09:10 local time, and will land at 16:45 local time. On return, it will depart Cape Town at 13:25 local time, arriving in Dubai at 01:10 local time the following day.
In addition to providing additional seat capacity in and out of South Africa, Emirates’ new flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will collectively provide more cargo belly-hold capacity to further scale up import and export opportunities for local businesses.
