TAP Air Portugal A320neo collides with a motorcycle on a runway

A Tap Air Portugal Airbus A320neo aircraft collided with a motorcycle when landing at Conakry International Airport (CKY) in the Republic of Guinea in West Africa.   

 The aircraft involved in the incident is TAP Air Portugal Airbus A320neo, registered as CS-TVI.   

It took off for the flight TP-1492 from Lisbon (LIS), Portugal, and reached the destination airport around 11:40 pm on September 2, 2022.   

When the aircraft was landing, a motorcycle rode off on the runway attempting to cross it. The aircraft’s right engine collided with the vehicle. Two people who were riding the motorcycle died.   

Media reports indicate both the driver, and the passenger were airport employees.   

The Guinean Civil Aviation Authority (AGAC) has opened an investigation into the accident.
