Emirates will return its popular daily Airbus A380 service to Perth from December 1, 2022, replacing the existing Boeing 777-300ER currently in operation.

The announcement came as Emirates celebrated 20 years of serving the West Australian capital.

Upgrading the B777-300ER to the superjumbo jet will increase the airline’s seating capacity between Dubai and Perth to 500 seats per flight.

“The reintroduction of our flagship A380 aircraft to our Perth services is an important milestone and highlights our longstanding commitment to the Australian market,” Emirates divisional vice president Australia Barry Brown said in a statement.

“It comes as we celebrate 20 years of flying to Perth, a destination which has been an important part of our Australian network. It’s exciting to be boosting our services in line with what can only be described as exponential demand,” Brown added.

Emirates has seen a strong increase in passenger bookings between Dubai and Australia with significant demand across all its cabins, particularly following the launch of its Premium Economy service, which was first introduced on one of its daily services to Sydney on August 1, 2022.

EK420 will depart Dubai at 02:45 local time, arriving in Perth at 17:20 local time the same day while EK421 flight will depart from Perth at 22:20 local time, arriving in Dubai at 05:25 local time the following day.

In addition to its Perth services, Emirates also operates a twice daily A380 service from Dubai to Melbourne and Sydney, and a once daily service from Dubai to Brisbane.
