Emirates’ new premium economy service has touched down for the first time in Sydney.
Flight EK 412 departed from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 11:00 local time on August 1, 2022 and touched down at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) on August 2, 2022 at 06:25 local time.
Premium economy passengers on the flight received presents from Emirates to mark the launch, which included certificates, passport holders, personal polaroid photos, and individual cakes.
The airline announced that 56 premium economy seats will now be available on its twice-daily service from Sydney to Dubai on the A380 aircraft. Premium economy bookings on the Dubai-Sydney route opened on June 1, 2022. Emirates said that it had recorded significant demand for this service since announcing its debut.
AeroTime was able to have an up close and personal look at Emirates’ premium economy cabin at the Berlin ILA show in June 2022. AeroTime even tried and tested the leather premium economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.
The seats, manufactured by Recaro, offer pitch of up to 40 inches, are 19.5 inches wide, and recline 8 inches.
Emirates’ premium economy will be available on the final six A380s to be delivered on routes between Dubai and Paris Charles de Gaulle, London Heathrow and Sydney, with Christchurch, New Zealand to follow from December 2022.
