The right-hand engine of a TUI Airways Airbus A330-223 caught fire when landing at Manchester International Airport (MAN).
The aircraft, registered 9H-CFS, had just carried out flight TOM2609 from Menorca-Mahón Airport (MAH) in Spain to the British airport on July 30, 2022, and was parked at Terminal 2 when the right Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engine began to emit smoke.
Fire crews quickly intervened and doused the aircraft. “We can confirm flight TOM2609 Mahon to Manchester airport experienced a technical fault on arrival to the stand and was met by the fire service,” a TUI spokesperson said, before pointing out that all passengers had disembarked when the incident took place.
