Regional airlines play an important role in aviation, providing passengers with air transportation from smaller markets lacking sufficient demand. As a result, regional carriers tend to operate smaller airliners with fewer than 150 seats.

While regional aircraft are fairly recognizable, they are often overshadowed by some of the more iconic aircraft such as the Airbus A380, Airbus A320, Boeing 747, or the Boeing 737, which have proven to be aviation staples.
