Indonesian Air Force jet crashes during night tactical training

An Indonesian Air Force jet crashed in Central Java’s Blora regency on the evening of July 18, 2022. 

The Indonesian Air Force confirmed via a local press conference that one of its T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft had come down during a night tactical intercept training. It named the pilot and the only passenger of the aircraft as lieutenant Allan Safitra Indera. 

The T-50i Golden Eagle aircraft, with tail number TT-5009, was recorded to have taken off from the Iswahjudi Magetan Air Base at 18:24 local time to conduct night flight training. 

The last contact with the pilot was at 19:25 local time. As of July 19, 2022, there is no information on the pilot’s condition. 

According to local news, regional offices and locals from the village near the crash site confirmed the presence of metal fragments suspected to be from the T-50i Golden Eagle. 

Iswahjudi air base spokesperson Captain Sus Yudha Pramono told local news that a rescue team had already been mobilized to the location of the incident.
