Rafael Advanced Defense Systems unveiled a new long-range strike missile called the Ice Breaker.
The system, to be presented at Farnborough Airshow 2022, is “an aerial force-multiplier designed to overcome modern warfare arena challenges,” the Israeli manufacturer said in a statement.
The fifth-generation air-breathing missile offers an operating range of up to 300 kilometers (190 miles) against land and sea targets. Thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms, cruise missiles can identify their targets autonomously.
It can follow low-level terrain at high-subsonic speeds in all weathers, day and night. Its passive stealth profile and capability to operate even in GNSS-denied spaces make it a perfect tool for penetration strikes in highly defended areas.
The Ice Breaker can be used by a variety of platforms, including helicopters, light attack aircraft and fighter jets. Rafael has already received interest from several potential customers, including in Europe.
