Malaysian airline Batik Air has completed its rebranding process, introducing its first Boeing 737 MAX plane as part of the airline’s official celebrations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) in Malaysia on July 11, 2022.

“The induction of B737-8 into our fleet is a key element in our overall capacity growth and fleet expansion strategy. Its improved operating efficiency offers us the option to open even more new routes, providing better travel options for our passengers,” Batik Air chief executive Mushafiz Bin Mustafa Bakri said.

The CEO also added that the recent rebranding has helped the carrier synchronize operations with its regional sister airline, Batik Air Indonesia. Now both airlines can be recognized as a larger aviation entity.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Wee Ka Siong noted that the arrival of the airline’s first Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft marks a milestone for Batik Air. The carrier has already obtained all necessary clearances from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) needed to begin flying the MAX on domestic and international flights. Batik Air will now become the first airline in Malaysia to operate the type, the minister added.

“With Boeing 737 MAX flight time spanning a maximum of eight hours, Batik Air will be able to improve its product offerings alongside operations to further markets,” Siong added.

Batik Air aims to add 17 more Boeing 737 MAX passenger planes by the end of 2022.
