IATA has announced that RwandAir CEO, Yvonne Manzi Makolo, will serve as Chair of the association’s Board of Governors (BoG) from June 2023 – the first female ever appointed to this position.
Makolo, who assumed her role as RwandAir’s CEO on April 6, 2018, will take over from Pegasus Airlines Vice-Chairperson of the Board (Managing Director) Mehmet Tevfik Nane, according to an IATA statement.

Nane assumed his duties as Chair of the IATA BoG for a one-year term, effective from the conclusion of the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Doha, Qatar on June 21, 2022.
Nane succeeds JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes, who will continue to serve on IATA’s BoG.
