The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has addressed rumors circulating on social media regarding an alleged crash landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport located in Ikeja, Lagos.

The authority took to Twitter and implored the general public to disregard the news.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria would like to inform the general public to disregard the news making the rounds on social media about an alleged crash at Ikeja Airport,” the authority announced.

News surrounding the alleged crash first appeared on the evening of May 24, 2022, after an aircraft was spotted being towed along a busy highway.

There had been reports that a plane crash-landed in Ikeja, causing commuters to speculate as footage of a plane with a missing wing began to circulate on social media.
