Dubai-based airline Emirates has announced that it will embark on a global mass recruitment tour, taking in 30 cities worldwide to boost its cabin crew numbers

Emirates said that as air travel returns “with a vengeance”, it is driving up its recruitment programme for its cabin crew.

Emirates’ recruiters will travel from Australia to the UK, stopping at  dozens of European cities in between. Cairo, Algiers, Tunis and Bahrain will also be part of the tour.

In Australia, the airline has already started traveling to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth to meet potential cabin crew members.

The recruitment drive at the UAE-based carrier comes as the aviation industry grapples with staffing shortages worldwide, struggling to recruit workers who left aviation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There’s no more exciting airline than Emirates for anyone interested in a flying career, and we’ve received tremendous interest since we began our recruitment drive for cabin crew in November,” Emirates vice president for human resources Abdulaziz Al Ali said in a statement on May 17, 2022.

“While parts of the application process are done online, we always make the effort to meet our candidates in person whenever we can, and that is why our Talent Acquisition team is doing a whirlwind 30-city tour over the next 6 weeks to assess prospective candidates.”

In April 2022, Emirates said it had received more than 300,000 applications for cabin crew jobs since it launched its first recruitment drive post-pandemic in August 2021.

On its website, Emirates says that interested applicants should fit the UAE employment visa requirements and will be based in Dubai, the airline’s main hub. Candidates are also required “to have more than a year of experience in hospitality or customer services” with a minimum a high school qualification.

The current average salary of an Emirates economy class cabin crew is around AED 9,770 ($2,660)
