Aviation group Capital A, formerly known as AirAsia Group, has released its operating results for the first quarter of 2022, revealing that passenger traffic has significantly increased.
In Q1 2022, Capital A carried a total of 3.7 million passengers, an increase of 284% compared to the same quarter in 2021. The positive operating results were attributed to “the strong domestic travel rebound and the gradual further easing of travel restrictions in 1Q2022”.
AirAsia Malaysia performed the best. In Q1 2022, the airline carried a total of 2.4 million passengers, a notable increase compared to 497,742 passengers in Q1 2021.
AirAsia Thailand passenger traffic has also soared mainly due to a strong recovery in travel demand and the easing of entry rules as well as the reopening of the Thailand Pass (Test & Go). During the first quarter of 2022, AirAsia Thailand flew 1.45 million passengers, a significant increase compared to 977,932 passengers during the same period in 2021.
In Q1 2022, AirAsia Indonesia and AirAsia Philippines carried 380,496 passengers and 560,489 passengers, respectively.
