John Travolta is now qualified to fly Boeing 737 aircraft, the film star and pilot announced on March 20, 2022.

“So, a very proud moment in my aviation history. To add to my 747 and 707 licenses I just received my 737 license,” Travolta announced in an Instagram post standing in front of the narrow-body Boeing jet.  “It went very well. Just sharing my moment with you.”

The Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction star is well known for his love of aviation, having gained a private pilot license at the age of 22. The 68-year-old already held licenses and type ratings to fly the Boeing 707 and the 747.

Aviation buff Travolta’s most famous plane is an ex-Qantas 707, which he purchased in May 1998.  Back in 2016, he also showed off his home, part of a private airport complex, with a runway long enough for him to land the 707.

The film star announced in 2017 that he was donating the aircraft to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society in Australia. However, maintenance work and then the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the aircraft from reaching Australia and it is still not with the society.

According to his website, Travolta also holds licenses for the Gulfstream, Challenger, Hawker, Falcon, Lear, Citation jets as well as the de Havilland Vampire and Canadair CL-41 Tutor/Tebaun military jets.

He has also received two aviation awards. In 2003, he was presented the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation Award for Excellence for his efforts to promote commercial flying. In 2007, he received the Living Legends Ambassador of Aviation Award.
