Earlier today on International Woman’s Day, Tammera L. Holmes was named as the 30th recipient of the AeroTime Aviation Achievement Award.

AeroTime’s Editor at Large, Patrick Jephson, met Tammera at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Chicago to discuss the future of aviation and after a wide ranging interview, he surprised her with the presentation of this much deserved Award.

The full interview will be published later this week, but on International Women’s Day AeroTime wanted to announce the latest recipient of this coveted award.

Tammera is Chief Operating Officer and Partner of AeroLogistix, a North American based aviation consultancy.  She has over 20 years of professional aviation industry experience in flight, airport operations, facilities planning, environmental planning, sustainable airport design, regulatory compliance, agency coordination and strategic innovation. She has served as President & CEO of AeroStar Consulting Corporation in Chicago, Illinois since 2008, and in 2016, she launched her non-profit The AeroStar Avion Institute to promote access to jobs in Aviation and Aerospace.

Tammera is known for her passion in supporting and encouraging young people into aviation, especially African Americans, females, and those from other underserved and under-represented communities.  She wants to encourage people interested in STEM careers, and help close the skills gap to meet the global demand for aviation professionals.

Tammera said, “I am just so overwhelmed to be recognized for the work I have done in this industry.  I just want to give kids everything that I wish I had when I was trying to find my way in an industry that didn’t look like me.  To be recognized on a global scale like this is just phenomenal.  This is the long game.  What we are doing is working with kids who will be the future professionals of our industry and that will remain my focus as we continue to create impact for aviation and its people.”

Tammera added, “To receive this award on International Women’s Day is a real thrill and I just want to say to all women that we must keep on soaring as we have not yet reached our highest heights.  Remember that as we continue to soar higher and become more visible, the next generation will be even more encouraged to follow in your footsteps.”

AeroTime’s Editor at Large, Patrick Jephson, said, “Tammera is not only an inspiration, but is also great fun.  It was an honour to present her with the AeroTime Aviation Achievement Award on this special day.  It is undoubtedly richly deserved and I have now seen first hand why the AeroTime team, along with Tammera’s colleagues at AeroLogistix, were so determined to make the presentation on International Women’s Day.”

Bryan W Johnston, President & CEO of AeroLogistix, said “We are very proud of Tammera and we are delighted to see this well deserved industry recognition. Her work over many years to encourage under privileged kids to go for it in aviation is inspiring. The young people, our industry and society as a whole all benefits from her dedication. I’m proud to know her, proud to work with her and proud to call her a friend. AeroLogistix is a better place because of her and I thank AeroTime for recognising her in this way.”

The citation on Tammera’s certificate reads: “In recognition of her dedication and commitment to the aviation sector; for her focus on promoting diversity and inclusion through philanthropy in Aviation and Aerospace education; for passionately acting as a role model for young people, women, African Americans and under-represented groups to pursue STEM subjects and to join the aviation industry. The AeroTime Global Executive Committee recognises the positive influence of these efforts and the significance of their impact on the aviation industry and its people, both today and into the future.”

The full interview with Tammera will be published soon.
