The Farnborough International Airshow is joining many aviation companies such as Airbus and Boeing in suspending cooperation with Russian airlines amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The airshow will ban Russian participation at the event, which will take place between July 18 and July 22, 2022. This means that any aircraft, aerospace company, or other participant from Russia will not be allowed to exhibit its products.

“Following the on-going events taking place in Eastern Europe, we have made the decision to suspend Russian participation at the 2022 Farnborough International Airshow,” the organizers announced in a statement dated March 2, 2022.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine, and everyone affected by the current situation. We continue to hope for a timely and peaceful resolution,” it added.

At the 2018 Farnborough airshow, Russian companies were prohibited to showcase military aircraft. The move came after the European Union imposed an embargo on arm imports from Russia following Russia’s aggression in Ukraine back in 2014.

“At Farnborough International, we take guidance from the British Government’s Export Control Organization (ECO) regarding the EU embargo on imports of armaments and military hardware to and from Russia. We welcome all exhibitors, Russian or otherwise, that fall within these ECO guidelines,” the organizer’s press service announced in 2017.

The 2018 Farnborough airshow hosted commercial aviation companies from Russia such as Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA), Irkut and more.
