Wing, the drone delivery service from Google, has announced plans to trial deliveries of KFC in Australia

It will be the first time that KFC has been delivered via drone in Australia, Wing said in a blog post on February 3, 2022.

Wing said the decision came in response to requests from customers in Logan, Queensland.

The drone delivery trial will cover a small number of households in Logan, before expanding to other locations.

“In about the same amount of time it takes for chicken to crisp up and get its golden hue, Wing customers in Logan can now get their KFC faves delivered by drone,” the delivery company said.

It remains to be seen whether the fried chicken will make it safely to customers. Wings had to suspend drone deliveries in Canberra after repeated attacks by ravens, which were trying to protect their young, although it was able to restart services in December 2021.

Wing currently runs drone delivery services in Logan and Canberra in Australia, Helsinki in Finland and Christiansburg in the United States. In 2021, it made more than 140,000 deliveries of foods, goods and medicines.
