Drones may have been part of the halftime act for the Super Bowl in 2017, but the US aviation authorities don’t want people flying them near the stadium this year.

Super Bowl 56 will take place at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on February 13, 2022, pitting the Cincinnati Bengals against the Los Angeles Rams.

On February 2, 2022, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced details of a no-fly area for drones during the game.

The FAA said it will impose a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR), which will prohibit drones within a 30-nautical-mile (55km) radius of the stadium up to 18,000 feet in altitude.

The TFR will be in place from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm PST on Feb. 13 (2030 UTC February 13 to 0430 UTC on February 14).

In addition, no drones will be allowed for one nautical mile and up to 3,000 feet in altitude around SoFi Stadium on Feb. 13 from 10 am until the TFR comes into force for the game, the FAA said.

“Drone operators who enter the TFRs without permission could face drone confiscation, civil penalties that exceed $30,000 and potential criminal prosecution, the FAA has warned.

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar are due to perform at the half-time show, while Mickey Guyton will sing the national anthem.
