Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has completed the placement of 14 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with Aeromexico and Icelandair. The order was placed in March 2021.

In a statement dated January 19, 2022, DAE’s chief executive officer Firoz Tarapore said that the company has noticed a significant demand for aircraft of this type.

“We are very pleased to see the pace of recovery in air travel and the associated demand for these new technology, fuel-efficient aircraft,” Tarapore said.

A major part of the order was made by Mexican flag carrier Aeromexico. The carrier, which already has 21 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and six MAX 9s in its fleet, ordered 12 MAX 8 jets. Meanwhile, Iceland’s flag carrier Icelandair, which is based in Reykjavik, will take delivery of two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and expand its MAX fleet to a total of 11 jets. According to Planespotters.com, the airline currently operates six Boeing 737 MAX 8s and three MAX 9s.

The lessor revealed that aircraft deliveries began in October 2021 and will continue through the first half of 2022.

As of December 31, 2021, DAE had 153 Boeing aircraft in its fleet, including 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
