A shooting incident at an air cargo company near Miami International Airport (MIA) has left two cargo crew injured, while one employee has been arrested by Miami-Dade police.

The incident occurred at around 19:30 pm on January 13, 2022.

A MIA representative confirmed to AeroTime via an emailed statement that the shooting took place in a cargo area occupied by Cargo Force, a freight forwarding company that provides cargo and mail handling services across 13 airports in the US.

In a separate emailed statement to AeroTime, the Miami-Dade Police confirmed that based on investigations, an argument between four employees escalated to a physical confrontation, when one of them produced a firearm and fired several times. Two males were struck and were transported by family members, who are also employees, to a nearby hospital.

“What occurred was there was some type of dispute that was stemming several days before and today this dispute escalated into a physical dispute between four males,” Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta told local media.

The shooter has been identified as North Miami resident Jackson Etienne, 31. According to local media, the dispute was over Etienne making “harassing advances” towards the sister of one of the shooting victims.

After the incident, Etienne was apprehended and taken to the police station where he waived his rights and gave a taped and written statement on what had occurred.

Police said that the victims, whose names were not released, were 18 and 23 years old, and are both in stable condition.
