The fast-growing Vietnamese air carrier Bamboo Airways, owned by the FLC Group, and the pilot training center BAA Training Vietnam, subsidiary of the global aerospace group Avia Solutions Group, inked a 5-year contract from 2021 up until 2026 under which the airline pledges to prioritize using the full flight simulator (FFS) A320/1 lease services of BAA Training Vietnam.
The agreement also covers A320 and E190 Type Rating services for Bamboo Airways pilots, with ATP Bridging, MCC and JOC included in the package. In addition, BAA Training’s facilities in Europe will be the first choice of Bamboo Airways when it comes to selecting Type Rating or dry lease services for FFS A320/1 outside of Vietnam.
“We have been partnering with Bamboo Airways from the very beginning of our operations in 2019,” said Managing Director of BAA Training Vietnam, Vytautas Jankauskas. “Apart from the Type Rating and dry lease services portfolio that we will offer to the carrier, we will soon join forces and introduce a new MPL training program following EASA’s rules and regulations.”
Bamboo Airways is a relatively new airline that was founded in 2017 and started operations in January 2019. It currently operates a total of 29 aircraft in its fleet with an average aircraft age of 7 years old, Planespotters.net data shows. The airline’s fleet comprises 12 Airbus A320s, eight Airbus A321s, five Embraer ERJ-190s, three Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and one Airbus A319 aircraft. Boeing orders and deliveries data shows that Bamboo Airways has another 7 unfilled orders for 787 Dreamliners.
“Bamboo Airways has dramatically accelerated its fleet expansion to 30 aircraft of Airbus 320 family, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and Embraer 190 just after three years of operation,” Deputy General Director of Bamboo Airways, Nguyen Ngoc Trong, commented. “With that being said, there exists a significant necessary for full flight simulator training to ensure the efficient and seamless operation of Bamboo Airways in the coming future.”
The fast-growing airline aims to expand its network by connecting Vietnam with key markets in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
