Alitalia’s successor, ITA Airways, will reportedly receive its first Airbus A350 widebody in June 2022.

In an interview with Il Messaggero, ITA Airways’ chief executive Fabio Lazzerini announced the timeline of the airline’s first Airbus A350-190 aircraft delivery, Italiavola reported. According to Lazzerini, the airline’s new widebody will arrive in time for the launch of ITA’s new Rome to Buenos Aires route.

The successor to loss-making Alitalia, ITA Airways, Italy’s new national airline, commenced its commercial operations on October 15, 2021 with a network of 44 destinations and 59 routes. The airline intends to increase to 74 destinations and 89 routes by 2025.

Currently, ITA Airways has a total of 52 aircraft in its fleet, which comprises 27 Airbus A320-200s, 18 Airbus A319s, and seven Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

However, ITA Airways plans to expand its fleet to 78 aircraft in 2022 and 105 in 2025.
