A United Airlines Boeing 757 aircraft has been grounded after it caught fire at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on the morning of November 16, 2021.
The aircraft was parked at an airport gate at Terminal B of BOS when a fire broke at the auxiliary power unit in the rear of the aircraft, which was scheduled to travel from Boston to San Francisco. There was no one onboard the plane at the time of the incident.
Passengers affected by the grounded aircraft were given alternate arrangements on United Airlines flight 477 to San Francisco.
“A [757] aircraft experienced a mechanical issue while parked at a gate at Boston Logan International Airport. There were no customers or crew onboard at the time,” a United Airlines spokesperson confirmed to AeroTime Hub.
“The aircraft has been removed from service while our maintenance crews evaluate it. We made alternate arrangements for our customers traveling from Boston to San Francisco on United 477.”
CBS Boston News was able to take a photograph of the fire damage to the aircraft.

No casualties or injuries were reported.
Update: The type of aircraft was corrected, as it had been incorrectly reported in the United Airlines statement.
