A Lufthansa Airbus A321 aircraft suffered nose damage after a collision with a bird while on approach to Heraklion International Airport (HER), Greece.
The incident occurred on October 23, 2021, when the Lufthansa Airbus A321-200 aircraft, registered as D-AIEF, was performing a regular flight LH-1554 from Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Germany, to Heraklion International Airport (HER), Greece. According to the flightradar24.com data, the jet took off from FRA airport at 8:09 a.m. (UTC).

The encounter with a bird happened when the jet was on its final approach to the HER airport’s runway 27. A bird strike resulted in significant aircraft nose cone damage. Even though the nose was flattened, the flight crew landed the plane safely at 11:52 a.m. (UTC).
Fortunately, no injuries or further incidents were reported.
According to the flight record, as of early October 24, 2021, the jet was still on the ground.
