Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier announced the order of 20 Challenger 3500 business jets from an undisclosed customer. Valued at $534 million, this is the largest Bombardier jet transaction in 2021.

“This significant order comes just days after the unveiling of the Challenger 3500 business jet, quickly reinforcing the supremacy of this platform in the super mid-size market,” Peter Likoray, Senior Vice President, Sales, New Aircraft at Bombardier, was quoted in a statement released on September 30, 2021.

The upscale variant of the Challenger 350, the Challenger 3500 was first unveiled on September 14, 2021. This is the latest Bombardier’s mid-sized business jet, which is due to enter service in the second half of 2022.

The Challenger 3500 jet has the capability to seat up to 10 passengers. It has a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,297 kilometers) and can reach a maximum speed of 0.83 Machs (1,017 kilometers per hour).

Bombardier expects the Challenger 3500 to “have a strong market presence worldwide” as well as to become “a significant economic driver in North America”, as written in the company’s statement dated September 14, 2021.
