Greece based airline SKY Express inked an operating lease deal for new ATR 72-600s, with the regional aircraft leasing company TrueNoord on September 15, 2021.

The leasing efforts for the ATR 72-600s by SKY Express is an initiative to phase out and replace their existing fleet of ATR 72-500s. The acquisition is intended to ensure that the airline operates the youngest and greenest fleet in Greece according to their operational strategy.

“With these new acquisitions and our partnership with TrueNoord we continue SKY Express’ steadily upward course and deliver on our promise to operate one of the greenest and youngest fleets in Europe,” said Vasiliki Christidi, General Manager of IOGR, SKY Express’s parent company.

SKY Express is undergoing a network expansion launched in 2021, with 35 regional connections and 13 international destinations.

“We are looking forward to supporting SKY Express’ continued growth with the new ATR 72-600s,” said Michael Adams, Sales Director of TrueNoord – Europe. “Fleet replacement is vital or essential connections may fail.”

The airline currently operates a fleet of 19 aircraft including six Airbus A320neos and 13 ATR 72s/42s.
