Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines parent company sign a strategic agreement for a long-term collaboration.

The collaboration includes four areas: industrial development, advanced aviation training, educational partnership, and leadership development in Africa.

“Boeing has recognized Ethiopian as a global aviation leader in the continent,” Ethiopian Airlines explained in a statement on August 30, 2021.

Hopes are, Boeing will help the group make its aviation academy globally recognizable, develop Ethiopia’s manufacturing capability and aftermarket aviation services, and increase its competitiveness in the global aviation market, according to the statement.

Another goal is to build “a 21st-century pipeline” for aviation careers in Ethiopia. To meet a potential demand of aviation workers in the region, Boeing and the group plan to collaborate with various highly-qualified educational institutions and set up necessary learning and development programs dedicated to encouraging future generations of the country and Africa to get involved in the aviation industry.

“We have been working in collaboration with Boeing on different large-scale projects in aviation for more than 70 years to serve the continent of Africa, and this partnership expands and builds our capability in multiple fields,” Tewolde GebreMariam, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, was quoted in the statement.

The strategic partnership between Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines Group is currently formalized as a Memorandum of Understanding.
