Two months after launching operations, Icelandic startup airline PLAY reveals that it is already eyeing transatlantic flights between Iceland and the United States

The air carrier has applied to the United States Department of Transportation for permission to operate scheduled and charter flights from and via Iceland to the United States, according to a statement on August 23, 2021.

If the application is accepted, the flights could be launched as soon as 2022.

PLAY was founded in 2019 and launched operations in late June 2021. The Keflavik-based carrier has a fleet of three Airbus A321 neos.
