A Gulfstream G-IV carrying boxer Gervonta Davis suffered a nose gear collapse at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) on August 21, 2021.

During departure from FXE at around 1400 local time, the nose gear of the Gulfstream collapsed during the take-off run, which caused the plane to skid off the runway.

Due to excessive force on the fore of the aircraft and failure of the landing gear mechanism, the nose wheel component got detached from the airframe.

The aircraft was carrying ten passengers and four crew members. Although all passengers and crew members walked away from the accident site safely, one passenger suffered minor injuries as reported by CBS Miami.

Davis posted about the incident on his social media, US outlets reported. “Damn that plane almost took (us) out,” he captioned one picture, according to USA Today. “For everybody that want to fly private, I think it’s over with…I’m driving or catching a train,” ESPN quoted him as saying.

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has commenced an investigation regarding the accident.
