Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY), Jetstar Asia, and Scoot have set deadlines for their employees to get vaccinated before the end of 2021.

Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) (SIA) has reportedly set the deadline for its operations crew and ground frontline workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 1, 2021.

Its low-cost arm, Scoot, is reportedly following the suit and mandating its employees to get vaccinated by December 1, 2021.

Meanwhile, Jetstar Asia intends to have all its employees vaccinated by October 1, 2021.

As per Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower national vaccination policy, an employer can only encourage employees to get vaccinated but cannot mandate it as a rule.

An exception is made in instances where the work setting exposes employees to a higher risk of COVID-19 infection than the general population.

Aviation aircrews in particular, are considered to be amongst these high-risk workers. In such cases, employers are allowed to introduce company policies to require vaccination with the intention of avoiding any outbreaks.
