Amanda Woo takes up the role as the Chief Executive Officer of airasia super app ꟷ the company’s digital marketplace previously known as airasia.com.

The new CEO appointment will come into effect on May 19, 2021. Woo is replacing former airasia super app Chief Executive Officer Karen Chan, who is moving to a board position with the super app business.

Woo comes from a background experience in e-commerce, lifestyle brand, and retail marketing with prominent global brands. She joined AirAsia in 2012 and worked with commercial initiatives across various entities under the AirAsia ecosystem. In 2019, she became the Chief Commercial Officer and was part of the founding team of the airasia super app.

In the new role, Woo will be reporting to Aireen Omar, President (airasia Digital) AirAsia Group.

“The super app is at an important stage of its growth, focusing on its three verticals – travel, e-commerce and fintech,” Omar is cited explaining in the company’s statement. “It is crucial that we continue to innovate and find ways to grow the super app’s stickiness with consumers across all three verticals in our quest to become Asean’s preferred super app. Amanda’s experience in the past decade with AirAsia will allow her to maximise the strong data, network and technology that we have built over the years to achieve that goal.”

“I am honoured to be given this exciting opportunity, and look forward to working closely with the management team and dedicated Allstars across the region to achieve the goals that have been set out for airasia super app,” Woo is quoted in the statement. “The combination of an incredibly talented pool of Allstars, strong leadership team and a global footprint forms an unparalleled opportunity for a consumer-centric super app that will be an important part of the airasia group ecosystem, and a key revenue stream.”

AirAsia super app is a digital marketplace of products and services that fall under travel, eCommerce, and fintech. The company officially revealed its new digital face amidst the global pandemic ꟷ in October 2020. At the time, the 15 types of products and services super app contained ranged from flights, hotels, SNAP, activities, insurance, Big Rewards, various deals, and wifi.
