Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) Boeing 747 freighter experienced a tailstrike while performing a go-around at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT).
On February 1, 2021, a Boeing 747-800 freighter, registered as JA13KZ, performing flight KZ-258 from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) was about to land at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) runway A.
However, due to strong turbulence, Boeing 747 aircrew initiated go-around while approaching runway A. During the go-around Boeing 747 suffered a tailstrike. The aircraft landed safely after the second attempt. The flight crew was not injured.
The Japan Transport Safety Board dispatched two flight investigators to the site of the incident. Upon inspection, investigators discovered scratch marks of about 90 centimeters wide and 3 meters long under the rear part of the fuselage, according to Nippon Cargo Airlines statement.

The incident was serious and could have led to an accident, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism told the local media.
