Qatar Airways Cargo received a delivery of three Boeing 777 freighters to its fleet on the first day of 2021. The airline will deploy the freighters on long-haul scheduled routes and cargo charter operations.
“With the arrival of these new freighters, we are injecting much needed capacity in the market helping support global supply chains at a critical time during the pandemic,” Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said.
According to Al Baker, the new arrivals would be used by the company’s air freight division to support distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. “The added capacity will enable us to support the logistics around the COVID-19 vaccination which is projected to be one of the greatest logistical challenges for the industry.”
The recent delivery of Boeing 777Fs brings the airline’s total number of freighters to 30, consisting of four Airbus A330Fs, two Boeing 747Fs and 24 Boeing 777Fs.The long-range twin-engine Boeing 777Fs have a range of 9,200 km and are capable to carry a maximum of 102,010 kg.

Additionally, Qatar Airways Cargo has turned six Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplanes to operate cargo-only services, introducing an additional 137 cubic metres of cargo volume per flight over the lower deck cargo capacity of 156 cubic metres per flight.
